Members of the United Steelworkers Union Local 2911 in Weirton have been in negotiations with ArcelorMittal in Weirton since early July.
Union President Mark Glyptis says that they are fighting for better wages, healthcare, job security, and pensions. After all three meetings yesterday, they have voted in favor of a strike authorization if necessary.
They want to emphasize that this does not mean they are going to strike. This is just another tool that can help move the stalled negotiations with the company.
They will be returning back to the negotiations table on Thursday in Pittsburgh with the results of these meetings.
