A Wellsburg man is in jail on charges of attempted arson.

30-year-old Joshua Mills was arrested on Thursday. He was being held in the West Virginia Northern Regional Jail on bail of $5,000. He faces a charge of felony attempted arson.

Mills allegedly took extreme and fortunately unsuccessful measures in an attempt to burn down a home along High Street in Wellsburg: he allegedly torched a mattress and threw it against the side of the house.
