A couple charged in a severe case of child abuse appeared in a Belmont County courtroom on Tuesday morning.

Two women were arraigned at Eastern Division Court on child abuse and drug charges.

Belmont County Sheriff Dave Lucas says they were taking care of a 4-year-old child.

Both 36-year-old Misty Glasgow and 25-year-old Devan Redman were arrested last week at a home in Neffs.

Lucas says the mother of the child was homeless, and while she was looking for a place, she left her daughter in the care of these two women.

Pictures show the child covered in bruises and burn marks, and a search warrant at their home resulted in finding several thousand dollars and cocaine.

Glasgow says she pays her bills with odd jobs like babysitting or cleaning just different things.

Bond was increased for both to $50,000.

The child is back with her mother.
