The Brooke County Board of Education is continuing to work on their upcoming excess levy that would provide pay raises to teachers and service personnel.

They held a special session last night discussing how the money from the levy would be used.

One of the options they were looking over would provide a $5,000 supplement and a $1,500 stipend to teachers and service personnel.

The upcoming levy vote will be a special election held on February 23 of next year, which will cost about $40,000 to $50,000.

According to the BOE if the levy did not pass, the County would not receive their funding for the following year.

They will also be reviewing Superintendent Toni Shute’s contract.
