Two weeks after Election day Hancock County still had not officially named a commissioner.

After the ballots were counted that night, Tommy Ogden was in the lead by eight votes.

It wasn’t until the absentee and provisional ballots were counted a week later that incumbent Jeff Davis took a lead in the race.

Wednesday featured a recount, where officials were fully prepared to count 10,118 votes all over again.

That ended, though, when after three precincts were totaled, Ogden withdrew because they were perfectly in-line with the tally.

That meant Davis was deemed to be the final winner by 10 votes.
