A woman is in the hospital after being hit by an SUV in Yorkville Monday night.

The woman hit was walking across the road toward Pizza Express. Police say the driver immediately got out of the vehicle to check on her.

The woman was taken to the hospital with head injuries, suffering from brain bleeding and contusions. At last update, she was in the ICU. Police say the two did not know each other, and that there appears to be no malice behind the incident.

Yorkville Police are working with Ohio State Highway Patrol to investigate the accident further. They plan to examine the driver’s vehicle and recreate the scene.

The identities of those involved have not been released. No charges have been filed yet and the investigation is ongoing.
