The village of Bridgeport has been declared to be in a state of fiscal emergency, after it defaulted on outstanding debts totaling $90,636.
The village was declared un-auditable in May.
An analysis was performed by the Ohio Auditor’s local government services section, which found the village had failed to make semi-annual payments on loans to the Ohio Water Development Authority and the Ohio Public Works Commission.
Ohio Auditor Dave Yost says this fiscal emergency will provide Bridgeport officials with much-needed resources needed to help them get their finances moving in the right direction.
