On Tuesday, many road work projects kicked off in the Ohio Valley.

Wheeling:

The intersection of 16th Street and Main Street will be closed for the next two weeks.

Officials said water repair service is needed. The project should finish by Friday, January 18th.

Ohio County:

The I-470 Westbound ramp at Bethlehem and the left lane of I-470 will be closed.

This is necessary for crews to clean drains. Officials advise taking 29th Street as an alternate route.

Work will begin at 8 a.m. and will wrap up around 3 p.m.

Weirton:

The center lanes and  turning lane on Main Street, surrounding the 36 hundred block, will be closed  for sewer line repair. Traffic will be restricted to the curb lanes.

Officials said one lane will be open for Northbound traffic. Another lane will be open for Southbound traffic.

Work will begin at 7 a.m.

Also, Tony Clark, maintenance engineer for the WV DOH (Dept. of Highways) District 6, said Kings Creek Road should be open sometime today after his crew remove a hanging rock.

Starting today, a section of Interstate 70 will be restricted to one lane in each direction at the West Virginia Pennsylvania State Line.

This restriction is due to Tunnel Ridge long wall mining activity under a section of the interstate.

The speed limit will be reduced to 45 miles per hour. Officials said this won’t wrap up until the end of May.
