According to the Center for Disease Control, the peak month of flu season is February, but there’s another highly contagious virus that the Hancock County Health Department is warning residents about.

Norovirus is an illness that can mimic flu-like symptoms, it spreads fast by people touching contaminated surfaces and bringing those germs near their mouth.

Most people call it the stomach bug or stomach flu.

Prevention is easy, washing hands thoroughly and to make sure to clean commonly touched items.

If you feel as if you have contracted the Norovirus, it’s important to avoid contact with anyone else.
