The position of Weirton City Manager has been temporarily filled since February by Finance Director, Diana Smoljanovich. She will soon get some relief as Carlo Pilgrim has been appointed on a 4 to 3 vote by council to take over.

While Pilgrim was not present at the meeting, the Mayor described his character as being one that would bring a lot to the area.

Pilgrim is expected to be sworn-in in the next few weeks.

In the meantime, the city is preparing for big development off Three Springs Drive.

Monday, revealed the first look at the design for the Streetscape Project, funded through the state of West Virginia. The grant will go toward improvements to Park Drive.

On the evening’s agenda was the reading of an ordinance to create a public safety director position, but that item was tabled.
