A woman who is accused of impersonating a police officer back in March was arraigned on two charges.

Marlese Lopez was arrested after two couples went to police saying Lopez claimed to be an undercover police officer, followed them home from a St. Clairsville pain clinic, and questioned them about their medications.

The Belmont County Sheriff’s Office and the St. Clairsville Police Department were contacted concerning Lopez.

She faces a total of 36 months in the Reformatory for Women, and a $5,000 fine on each count.

She has been out of jail on a recognizance bond. Detectives want to remind the public that if you are approached by an undercover officer, you can ask to see their ID; they are required to carry proper identification at all times.

Lopez has another hearing later this month, with the trial scheduled for August.
