The Jefferson County Commissioners talked about future development at Eastern Gateway Community College yesterday.

The potential for retail space on some of the college’s property was discussed at an open house Wednesday, but the school emphasized it is focused on academic programs.

Commissioner Dave Maple said there are deed restrictions to keep the property for educational use.

The college board is looking at its options and is hoping to have another public forum on potential expansion.
