St. Clairsville Chamber of Commerce President Tim Porter was asked to step down Wednesday morning.

Porter has admitted to making a phone call laced with profanity, threats, and a racial slur recently.

Last month, he withdrew from the St. Clairsville mayoral race for personal reasons. The slur was aimed at mayoral candidate Bill Brooks.

Porter said it was a personal phone call, and he has offered his sincerest apologies to Brooks and the community.

The Chamber of Commerce released a statement…

“The Chamber does not condone or accept the comments or actions of Mr. Porter. Effective immediately, our current Vice President, Jennifer Gerevics, has accepted the office of President. The St. Clairsville Chamber of Commerce will continue to work hard to build a vibrant and prosperous community through business leadership.”
