The Brooke-Hancock-Jefferson Metropolitan Planning Commission is working to improve access to internet throughout Brooke and Hancock counties.

In the spring, a multi-county grant totaled $250,000. Of that money, $125,000 is going to Hancock and Brooke counties and $125,000 is going to Ohio and Marshall. It was granted for a collaborative effort to expand Broadband opportunities and extended connection. Now the planning is underway.

The BHJ is working to contact community stakeholders and put together a survey in order to narrow down areas in need.

That survey will be released in December. It will be on social media, on the BHJ website and at local libraries. In January, the consultants working on this project will visit the area and then the study will wrap up at the end of June.
