West Virginia Department of Highways officials briefed the public on a long-term highway closure, Monday.

Starting February 3rd and lasting for 9 months, the road near the Fulton Bridge will close. Officials say the bridge repair has been needed for years and it cannot be done in pieces.

Drivers are encouraged to use I-470 as a detour. Local traffic can use I-70. All traffic will be forced to exit at the Oglebay Park ramp.

Tony Clark, acting WVDOH engineer said through traffic will be directed over I-470, going from Pennsylvania to Ohio will be directed over 470 and into Ohio.

Drivers looking to access Wheeling from I-70 will have to use Rt. 40 and go over Wheeling Hill.
