A school resource officer working for Toronto City Schools was released after just 20 days on the job, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, after he allegedly sent an inappropriate text message to a student.
It came to the attention of the girl’s father that the officer sent his daughter an inappropriate message. He then reported it to the sheriff’s office.
After the message was reviewed, it was deemed inappropriate by Jefferson County Sheriff Fred Abdalla– but not sexual or criminal in nature.
The officer was taken out of the school Monday after he just began work there on Jan. 6. He has been demoted from deputy to a corrections officer, was put on a 4-day unpaid leave, and took a$ 5,000 pay cut.
Because the school does not employ the resource officers, they have no further comment.
Anything from this point forward would be handled by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department.
