Hancock County buses have been involved in multiple crashes this year, but the latest concern is over a video that shows a crowded bus with students standing.
While the blame is not placed on the bus drivers or Hancock County schools for any of these particular incidents –all three crashes involved vehicles hitting the buses — it does raise questions over safety on school buses.
The video was filmed by a student on a bus ride from John D. Rockefeller Career Center to Oak Glen High School. Officials from the school say that there are typically two buses and on this day one bus was running behind schedule. The driver said not to worry and took all of the kids, resulting in some being forced to stand up.
Officials say it was an isolated incident and they spoke to the driver.
As for those bus accidents, officials say they hope drivers will be more cautious.
