As the Brooke County Board of Education faces financial hardships, they are taking actions that could help with the financial burden. After years of sitting vacant, some properties could soon see changes.

Since the Brooke County schools consolidation took place years ago, it may not be on the mind of all county residents. It is on the mind of board members who still dish out funds to pay for costs associated with the vacant buildings.

As the school crunches costs the board, took action to move three properties. While the former Follansbee Middle School will be put up for auction, what was once Beech Bottom Elementary school will be sold or transferred. The same goes for property on 26th Street in Wellsburg that is the nighttime Alternative Learning Center. As for the financial challenges the district faces, costs are being cut and some hard decisions are expected to be made in the near future.
