The Buckeye Local School District has had to push back its start date for elementary students due to flooding.
Students were originally scheduled to return to classes on Monday. However, the Buckeye Local South Elementary School in Tiltonsville sustained major damage following Friday night’s storm.
According to Superintendent Kim Leonard, a drain on the roof was clogged and caused water to run throughout the school.
Leonard says all three floors of the building are damaged, however, they do not know the extent as of Saturday afternoon.
Crews are at the school assessing the damage.
Junior and high school students will begin school on Monday, but all three elementary schools are postponing the start of class until at least September 10th.
