Thousands of vaccine doses available at Wheeling Hospital Highlands site

Wheeling Hospital now has 5,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine available to residents of the Northern Panhandle according to Wheeling Hospital Vice President Tony Martinelli. He says the hospital received an additional 1500 doses this week in addition to their usual allotment. They will also have 5000 doses available next week said Martinelli. He said that almost 50 percent of Ohio County residents have received the first dose of the vaccine. Wheeling Hospital launches self-schedule website for COVID vaccine appointments

Wheeling Hospital has launched a new self-scheduling website for people to make COVID-19 vaccine appointments. These vaccine appointments will continue to be administered at the Community Vaccine Clinic at the Highlands. With Gov. Jim Justice making vaccine distribution more widely available, vaccinating a greater number of the local population remains a priority. The clinic collaboration includes Wheeling Hospital, the Wheeling-Ohio County Health Department, the county Emergency Management Agency and Wheeling Health Right. DeWine signs emergency education bill into law

Ohio Governor DeWine signed an emergency bill that will change statewide testing in Ohio for 2021. A bill passed by the Ohio House on Wednesday will give extra time to administer state tests. The bill passed under an emergency clause. The Senate has approved some final changes before sending it to the House where it passed 92-to-0. DeWine signed the bill into law on Saturday. “The reason this was so important to have an emergency clause is because the testing window opens on Monday,” said Ohio Representative Don Jones. Authorities investigating homicide, one in custody

A homicide is being investigated in Noble County. The Noble County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a shooting around 1:30 on Saturday morning. According to a release, police arrived at a home on Outpost Road in Caldwell where they found a 27-year-old Caldwell woman dead. Wheeling Health Right to expand services but need support

The Wheeling Health Right Clinic plans to undergo some changes that will help the community drastically They plan to renovate the current conference room to house another operator. They’re also adding a supply room full of PPE and a dirty room for sterilizing instruments.
